About the Position

We are looking for a qualified individual to handle our accounting functions. The General Accountant position will be based at our facility in Pittsfield, MA and reports directly to the owners of the company. The ideal candidate will be very motivated, have a strong work ethic, and be capable of working in a fast paced, team oriented environment. The General Accountant will have one direct report and serves a role similar to Office Manager but with an emphasis on accounting and financial reporting.

Job Duties

  • Prepares account entries by compiling and analyzing account information
  • Documents financial transactions by entering account information
  • Recommends financial actions by analyzing options
  • Summarizes current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, statement of cash flow, various schedules and other reports
  • Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
  • Guides accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questions
  • Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
  • Maintains financial security by following internal controls
  • Complies with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions
  • Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
  • Perform various managerial/cost accounting functions in support of operations
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Other duties as may be assigned

Qualifications

  • Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products, in particular Excel
  • 5-10 years experience in a senior accounting role within a manufacturing organization
  • Experience in an injection molding or tool making operation preferred
  • Bachelors degree in accounting
  • CPA preferred
