Sen. Lesser Presents Manufacturer of The Year Award to Toner Plastics in East Longmeadow

  • On October 28, 2020

Senator Eric P. Lesser of the 1st Hampden Hampshire district with Joselyn Rodriguez, Maria Rodriguez, and Jack Warren of Toner Plastics, Inc.

EAST LONGMEADOW — Today, Senator Eric P. Lesser,  Senate Chair of the Manufacturing Caucus, officially recognized Toner Plastics as the First Hampden & Hampshire Manufacturer of the Year in a virtual Reimagined 5th Annual Manufacturing Awards Ceremony. The virtual awards ceremony was led by Senator Lesser and fellow Manufacturing Caucus Co-Chair, Representative Jeff Roy, and was attended by Speaker Robert DeLeo, Senate President Karen Spilka, and Secretary of Housing and Economic Development, Michael Kennealy.

This announcement follows an in-person presentation of the award by Sen. Lesser at their facility in East Longmeadow on October 15. Toner Plastics, founded in 1989, is a plastics manufacturing technology company specializing in profile extrusion, injection mold design and manufacturing, and injection molding.

During the pandemic, the Toner Plastics team played an active role in the manufacturing response and has connected the community with its network of affiliate companies to help produce PPE and testing components. Since March, they have donated elastic strapping to various volunteer organizations, supplied elastic strapping to help double mask production, and have expedited large orders of 3D filaments to support the manufacturing of 3D printed ventilators and PETG face masks for hospitals and health care workers in need.

“When it was needed the most, Toner Plastics went above and beyond to help the community and frontline workers across the Commonwealth,” said Senator Lesser. “Their time, effort, and partnerships have made a world of difference for hospitals and healthcare workers, and this award is one way to thank them for the impactful work they’ve done and will continue to do.”

“Toner Plastics is honored to be recognized by the Massachusetts State Senate as the 2020 1st Hampden and Hampshire District’s Manufacturer of the Year Award,” said Jack Warren, company president. “As we took precautions to keep our team healthy, pivoted to the production of PPE, and supported the local DIY community, our team remained motivated, resilient, and focused. In particular, I attribute our success to the leadership skills of our first-line supervisors.”
